What can be achieved in a day

Developing the skills to create beautiful flowing modern calligraphy takes time and practice. This workshop will give you the starting points to be able to continue to practice your new skill.

What you need

You don't need to bring anything with you. We will provide you with one pot of ink, a nib, a nib holder and practice sheets to take home. There is an opportunity to buy more ink colours on the day.

Travel

Our workshop is in Dunchurch, a village on the outskirts of Rugby. It’s easy to get to off the A45 if you’re travelling by car. It’s a short car journey from Rugby station. If you’ve come a long way and would like to stay over there are rooms at the local pub.

Health and Safety

The ink we use is acrylic and doesn't come out of clothes so please wear something you don't mind getting inky.

Access

The workshop is accessible from the street with no steps, however there is a step down to the toilet.

Workshop Instructor

Amy Lay is a graphic designer and illustrator, born in Warwickshire. She studied illustration and print making at the North East Wales Institute and has since worked in digital design, lettering and illustration. She has developed her skills in calligraphy since her college days and uses them at Hand-inc for commercial design work and combined with letterpress printing and illustrations.
